REVIEW OF YOUTH MINISTRY
The Archdiocese is pleased to announce that a review of youth ministry in the archdiocese has begun! Working alongside the youth ministry coordinator, Sarah McGeehan, Danny Curtin is facilitating a series of one-to-one interviews to hear about the work that is already being done and to find out areas for development. There will be an open-door synodal discussion for anyone interested in the future of youth ministry after Easter.

South Liverpool Foodbank have written again to pass on their thanks to everyone at St Mary’s for our generous Christmas donations and continued support, our latest donations filled six crates, weighing in at 90kg! Copies of the thank you certificate are on the noticeboards. We continue to support the foodbanks and would be grateful for donations of the following, tinned goods (meat, fish, soups) and any unwanted Christmas gifts (toiletries, toys). This journey builds on the grace of our Synod 2020 and the Archdiocesan Pastoral Plan, calling us forward together.

A MESSAGE OF CONDOLENCE FROM ARCHBISHOP JOHN SHERRINGTON
Archbishop John Sherrington was shocked to hear of the terrible shootings, injury and loss of life at the Bondi Beach Hanukah event. He offers prayers and condolences on behalf of the Catholic community to our Jewish brothers and sisters in Liverpool. Please pray for peace between all people.
AMENDMENT OF DONATIONS BY STANDING ORDER:
We would like to thank all parishioners who have already increased their regular donations following Fr. Tim’s appeal in April. We have been asked recently how one changes the amount donated by Standing Order. The easiest way to do so is by online or telephone banking.
If you are not using any of these, you can visit your bank branch in person or give instructions in writing. At the back of the church, you will find a short form which you can complete and send to your bank for this purpose. Also available are forms for setting up a new Standing Order or for Gift Aiding your donations, which allows the parish to claim an additional 25% of your donations from the taxman (if you are a taxpayer) at no cost to yourself. One of the team will be available after all masses this weekend should you have any questions.

WORLD ALZHEIMER’S DAY THANK YOU
A huge thank you to everyone who supported our World Alzheimer’s Day events last week. Our fundraiser event on Saturday was a great success raising more than £3000 in aid of Alzheimer’s UK and our own dementia friendly fund. We are extremely grateful to the many local businesses who made donations and to our fantastic entertainers and helpers. Our Dementia Information Session on Monday was well attended. We are grateful once again to the NHS Memory service professionals, Jill Pendleton and Emma Stafford, for their informative presentations and to their care navigators and Gill Phelan, our local Dementia Advisor, who were available for one-to-one questions.

WELCOME TO FR PETER MCGRAIL
This weekend we welcome Fr Peter McGrail as our new Parish Priest.
Until Fr Peter Murphy arrives at the beginning of October, Fr Stephen Ugwu will be assisting at some of our Masses.
Fr McGrail says, “I am delighted to now have arrived at Woolton and Halewood, and at the moment I am busily unpacking more boxes of books than I knew I had! It has been good to meet some of you over the past few days, and I look forward to getting to know you all over the coming weeks. Fr Peter Murphy has been away on retreat this week, but he is itching to arrive here. He will be living here in St Mary’s Presbytery: I will be living in Halewood in Fr Matthew’s old house.”
