NEARLY NEW FASHION SHOW: - THANK YOU
Thank you to everyone who contributed in any way to our latest nearly new fashion show. We have raised £771 so far for CAFOD and the South Liverpool food bank and a great time was had by all. We couldn’t do it without your generous donations, our fantastic models and helpers and everyone who comes along on the day and digs deep. Absolutely everything donated finds a new home. We have made clothing donations to Barnardo’s and Asylum Link and will be taking warm coats to the Irenaeus project. It’s still not too late to donate and add to the total. Hundreds of faithful gathered in the Metropolitan Cathedral to the celebrate Adoremus last Saturday 10 October. ARE YOU INTERESTED IN BECOMING A DEACON?
Online: Tuesday 20 October, 7pm (Scan the QR code to book)
In Person: Tuesday 24th November, 7pm, St Oswald and St Edmund Arrowsmith Canon’s Hall, Liverpool Road, Ashton-in-Makerfield.
The deacon embodies the spirit of service and compassion in the Church, a man who is dedicated and humble, uniquely ordained to help both the spiritual needs and the practical needs of a community. Candidates for the diaconate are typically mature men between the ages of 30 and 65. If they are married, they must be in a stable sacramental marriage.
The journey to discern if you have a calling to the diaconate involves asking yourself whether you have a genuine desire to serve God and His Church in this capacity.
We invite you to attend either or both of our enquirers’ events to learn more about the role of deacons, their ministry in parish life, and to support your prayerful discernment

ARCHDIOCESAN GOOD NEWS - ST HELENS ROSARY PROCESSION
The rosary procession took place in St Helens last weekend, a tradition in the area going back over 60 years.
Led by Father Jino Arikkatt, MCBS, parish priest at Holy Cross and St Helen Church, and joined by the mayor of St Helens, Cllr Stephen Little, the event dates back to the late 1950s when parishioner Martin Byrne fell seriously ill and pledged to God that if he recovered, he would start an annual Rosary procession in the town.
