ALIVE WORSHIP CELEBRATION:

All are welcome to come and experience worship and prayer led by One Hope Project, a Catholic collective binging impactful music, fresh creativity and building community. ALIVE celebrates God’s presence in our lives. There will be prayer, adoration, friendship and hospitality to follow. All welcome!
LOURDES AT HOME 2026
On Tuesday 28th July 2026, the Parishes of St Mary’s Woolton and St John Vianney hosted a ‘Lourdes at Home’ Mass celebrated by Parish Priest Fr Peter McGrail. Scrolls of names of our sick, housebound and recently deceased parishioners were included in the offertory procession and placed on the altar during the Mass.

Following the Mass, at our very own Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes, Fr Peter led parishioners in prayer joining together in spiritual union with our pilgrims in Lourdes.

Published on Monday 25 May, Pope Leo XIV signed his first encyclical on 15 May, the 135th anniversary of Pope Leo XIII’s Rerum Novarum. The new letter, Magnifica Humanitas, addresses one of today’s major challenges: safeguarding the human person in the age of Artificial Intelligence.
Pope Leo XIV appeals for people to build ‘for the common good’ and to ‘remain human,’ acting in courage towards shared responsibility and communion, so that the world ‘will come to recognise the human heart as the place where God desires to dwell.’

During the season of creation we will be having a number of prayer mornings in the church
On Saturday 5 September St Mary’s Church will be open for a time of prayer and adoration:
9:30am Morning Prayer
9:50am Adoration
11:30am Season of Creation Prayer
12 Noon Angelus and then the church closes
NATIONAL ADOREMUS 2026
📅 Date: Saturday 10 October (9.00am–6.00pm),
📍 Location: London (St George's Cathedral Southwark & Westminster Cathedral
The Adoremus National Eucharistic Congress takes place in London on Saturday 10 October 2026.
The day will include Mass at St George’s Cathedral, Southwark, a Eucharistic Procession to Westminster Cathedral, a keynote address by Cardinal Timothy Radcliffe OP (which will be streamed to our own Adoremus taking place in the Metropolitan Cathedral on the same day), and Solemn Benediction.
Parishes across England and Wales are encouraged to mark the day locally through Mass, Eucharistic Processions or Holy Hours, joining with the national celebration in prayer. Footage from the London events will also be available for remote participation.
MARRIAGE PREPARATION COURSE
📅 Date: Wednesday 9, 16, 23 And 30 September 2026, at 6.30pm - 8.30pm
📍Meet: Christ the King Church Childwall
The Archdiocese is offering a marriage preparation course for engaged couples. Led by trained lay facilitators, the 4-session course will help the couples develop skills to facilitate good communication within their relationship and an understanding of sacramental marriage within Catholic faith.
