As we journey to LiveSimply we will have events supporting our aims: living simply; living in solidarity with people in poverty and living sustainably with creation.
LIVE SIMPLY - FAIRTRADE FORTNIGHT WINE TASTING:
📅 Date: 19 September 2026: 10:00-4:00pm
📍 St Mary's Parish Hall
Have you ever tried Fairtrade wines? During Fairtrade Fortnight, come and sample some Fairtrade wines, both red and white, in St Mary’s parish hall on Saturday 26 September 2026 at 7:30pm and learn more about the importance of Fairtrade products. Tickets are £10 and on sale after Mass at Holy Family, St Mark’s and St Mary’s on Saturdays and Sundays 5-6 and also 12-13 September (if there are any left).
Light nibbles are included - but please eat first!
JUBILEE GARDEN PROJECT.
As we approach the Season of Creation, the Ecological Conversion Group invites parishes, schools and individuals to get involved in the Jubilee Garden Project, in partnership with The God Who Speaks. The project encourages us to use physical space to heal, transform and renew our relationship with God and the earth.

Thank you to all those who took part in or donated to our April Fashion Show. Donations are still flooding in, but we're up to £1000 now, to be shared across CAFOD and South Liverpool Food Bank.

We aim to live more simply, sustainably and in solidarity with others.
Lent is a time when we remember the poor and hungry across the world. By giving up some d little luxury and fasting for one day we can help by donating to CAFOD’s Family Fast Day on 14 March. CAFOD supports those suffering the impacts of war, global debt and climate change. Your donations help people find hope for the future. LIVESIMPLY AWARD CELEBRATION JUNE 2024
In June we celebrated (simply!) not only achieving the CAFOD LiveSimply Award, but also the amazing spirit of cooperation between our parishes and between many groups within the parishes, that made this achievement possible. Thank you everyone!
Each parish received a wooden plaque, hand finished by artisans in Cambodia. The wood is sustainably sourced acacia and making the plaques enables the people with disabilities who make them to earn their own income. Once they are fully mounted both plaques will be proudly displayed in our two churches.

Thank you to everyone who helped to make our Fashion show a success! It was a fabulous and fun afternoon and it was great to see so many people there. We are delighted to have raised £1300 for CAFOD.
We started with a sparkling cream tea followed by our fashion show, modelled by our fantastic volunteers and showcasing some of the many new and nearly new items that people had so kindly donated. Thank you to our donors, everyone who was there to support us on the day and to those who couldn't make it but still contributed.
It really does support our Live simply aims –
living sustainably by choosing to reuse instead of buying new and
in solidarity with others by raising funds for CAFOD to help our global family and donating some unsold items to asylum link and Barnados.
It’s always fantastic to see our parish community of all ages coming together to support the event and to have fun.
Thank you once again and we are looking forward to our Autumn event! 
LiveSimply Question Time
Climate Crisis: What can I do?
On Thursday 30 November, to coincide with the first day of COP28, the church hall at St Mary's was converted in to a TV studio for a special edition of Question Time entitled Climate Crisis: What can I do?
Chaired by our very own Bill Chambers, the Panel comprised Paula Barker, MP for Wavertree; Ged Edwards, CAFOD Coordinator; Liz Makinson, Councillor for Calderstones; Liam Robinson, Leader of Liverpool City Council; Paul Rooney, Deacon and Environmental Academic.
The debate was very lively and wide-ranging and the audience didn't hold back in their questioning, but each of the Panellist gave full and informative answers to each of the questions posed to them. The topics covered ranged from the prospects for COP28 through to recycling food-waste here at home.
The evening closed with each person present, including the Panel, making a pledge of something they are going to do differently from now onwards in their own lives. You can see a summary of these pledges below.

Nearly New Fashion Show
Thank You!
Thank you to everyone who helped to make our Fashion show such a success! You helped to make it a really enjoyable afternoon and we are delighted to have raised £1444 for Mary’s meals.
Our models and our helpers were all fantastic and we are grateful to everyone who donated items for sale. Our guests enjoyed their sparkling cream tea and were really generous with their bids and purchases. Thanks also to everyone who couldn't attend but still contributed.
