In March 2024 both parishes were awarded the Live Simply Award.
In September 2025 the parishes of Our Lady of the Annunciation Bishop Eton, St Mary's Woolton and St John Vianney joined forces to form LiveSimplyTogether
Purpose:
Purpose:
We care about Creation and we care about people who are living in poverty.
We celebrate the wonders of the natural world and the diversity of our brothers and sisters, both here and right across the planet.
We are really worried about the impact that the climate crisis and other environmental threats are having on our world, particularly the impact on the poor.
We are committed to promote a variety of actions and initiatives across our two Parishes, which will help us to live out our faith by caring for our common home.
Aim
We aim to be a catalyst for change, inspiring the parishioners of Bishop Eton and St Mary's to live more simply, more sustainably and in greater solidarity with the poor.
Patron
Prior to his death in April 20206 Fr Jim Casey C.Ss.R was our patron, there are no plans to replace him.

LIVESIMPLY IN ST MARY’S AND BISHOP ETON
World Water Day on 22nd March celebrates water which plays a big part in the Christian church.
At this time, we also raise awareness of the 2 billion people living without access to safe water.
We can help by conserving water ourselves, being better informed about the challenges being faced and writing to our MP about budgets for improving water, home and abroad. Shop sustainably: a typical pair of jeans takes 10,000 litres of water to produce – equal to what a person would drink in 10 years!
FAIRTRADE COFFEE MORNING 12TH MARCH 2023
As part of our LiveSimply programme we have recently been raising awareness of Fairtrade and Fairtrade Fortnight, including Fairtrade-themed coffee mornings at both Parishes on the two Sundays within Fairtrade Fortnight.
The (pictured) coffee morning in the Parish Hall after that 11:00 Mass attracted 40 was a great success. Ruth created table centre pieces with information on Fairtrade, its aims and products.
The key messages are: Buying Fairtrade products support both farmers, and sustainable farming, in low income countries. The more we choose Fairtrade products, the more our local supermarkets will stock them

FAIRTRADE WINETASTING NIGHT
Thanks to all who organised and supported the FT wine tasting. An enjoyable evening was had by all whilst also raising funds for CAFOD. Some photos of the evening follow.

LIVESIMPLY IN ST MARY’S AND BISHOP ETON
This week -13 March marks the 10th anniversary of Pope Francis’s election.
Let us pray for him and thank God for all his inspiration.
FAIRTRADE FORTNIGHT NEWS:
Bishop Eton hosted a FT tea and coffee event last Sunday. St Mary’s turn is this Sunday. Please join us in the hall after the 11:00am Mass. Thanks to all who organised and supported the FT wine tasting. An enjoyable evening was had by all whilst also raising funds for CAFOD.

LIVESIMPLY IN ST MARY’S AND BISHOP ETON
March is Vegetarian month and coincides with much of Lent. Eating less meat is good for the planet, and possibly healthier and cheaper too. Our challenge for this month is to give up some meat and to incorporate more vegetarian meals into our diet. Perhaps we could try having veggie lunches each day or choose one day a week to eat vegetarian meals.

Fairtrade Fortnight begins on Monday. Please add at least one Fairtrade item to your shopping to show our solidarity with the poor and to live more sustainably. Friday 3 March is Family Fast Day – your chance to eat simply in solidarity with the poor. Remember to take your CAFOD envelope and return it to church next week.
Fairtrade Fortnight Wine Tasting Have you ever tried Fairtrade wines?
Come and sample six (about half glass of 3 white and 3 red) in the parish hall this Friday 3rd March at 7:30 pm.

FAIR4ALL VISIT
Members of the LiveSimply team from St Mary's and Bishop Eton travelled to meet up with Fair4All, a Fairtrade stall and distributor based in Warrington Market.

The visit was part of the planning in the two parishes for Fairtrade Fortnight which runs from 27 February to 12 March 2023.
