Due to a major project taking place in St Mary’s grounds from Sunday 13 September to Monday 21 September, there will be no weekday Masses during this time and no access to the parish hall.
The usual Masses on Sunday 13 and Sunday 20 September will still take place.
Please be aware that the car park will be closed from 2:00pm on Sunday 13 September to 9:00am on Sunday 20 September.

On Saturday 12 September St Mary’s Church will be open for a ‘Time of Prayer and Adoration’
- 9:30am: Morning Prayer
- 11:30am: Rosary for Creation
- 12 Noon: Angelus and then the church closes.

MP’S DEBATE ASSISTED SUICIDE BILL:
On 11 September, MPs will debate the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill at its Second Reading in the House of Commons. Archbishop John Sherrington, Archbishop of Liverpool and Lead Bishop for Life Issues, has spoken about the importance of this issue, saying: “Assisted suicide is a matter of life and death… I urge people to contact their Member of Parliament and ask them to vote against this deeply flawed bill at Second Reading. “In response, we are inviting people from across the archdiocese to unite in prayer on Tuesday 8 September at 7.00pm via Zoom, ahead of the parliamentary debate. By completing the form, participants can register their interest in joining the prayer gathering and will receive the Zoom link, together with resources, before the debate. WORLD ALZHEIMER’S MONTH:
This Tuesday 1 September marked the start of World Alzheimer’s Month. This year’s theme: “The Earlier You Know, The More You Can Do: A Dementia Diagnosis Matters” focuses on recognising early signs, reducing stigma and emphasising the importance of timely intervention.

Season of Creation ‘1 September to 4 October’
The Season of Creation is underway - an annual ecumenical period of prayer and action to care for the natural world.
This year has a theme of living water, drawn from Ezekiel 47: 1-12, which portrays Gods life-giving water flowing from the temple of God. Water is precious and in England we're using water faster than nature can replace. The small, everyday choices made in homes and workplaces can make a big difference. Have you ever tried Fairtrade wines? During Fairtrade Fortnight, come and sample some Fairtrade wines, both red and white, in St Mary’s parish hall on Saturday 26 September 2026 at 7:30pm and learn more about the importance of Fairtrade products. Tickets are £10 and on sale after Mass at Holy Family, St Mark’s and St Mary’s on Saturdays and Sundays 5-6 and also 12-13 September (if there are any left).

EVENING PRAYER WITH THE APOSTOLIC NUNCIO:
📅 Date: Sunday 13 September at 3pm
📍Location: The Metropolitan Cathedral
All are invited to the Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King on Sunday 13 September at 3pm for the culmination of the Apostolic Nuncio’s visit to the archdiocese. This date coincides with the 175th anniversary of the establishment of the Metropolitan Chapter of Liverpool.
The celebration will take the form of Evening Prayer sung in the Cathedral. A drinks reception will follow in the Cathedral crypt. The Apostolic Nuncio will also celebrate the Solemn Mass at 11am in the Cathedral on that date.

JUSTICE AND PEACE YOUTH GROUP:
📅 Date: On Sunday 13 September at 4.30-5:30pm
📍Location: parish hall at St Anthony's of Padua
On Sunday 13 September at 4.30-5:30pm in the parish hall at St Anthony's of Padua the Justice and Peace youth group will be holding an information session for young people aged 10 years old and above and their parents/ guardians to invite them to think about joining our group.
There will be a presentation and refreshments, and a chance for the young people to meet.
We meet twice a month - second Sunday of the month at St Anthony of Padua and the fourth Sunday of the month at Bishop Eton - time 4:00pm-6:00pm and share fun, prayers, learning about the world and activities to try to make the world a better place. We'd love to see you - no commitment necessary, just come along!
