FROM FR TIM
I sense I am not alone in finding that the days are beginning to weigh heavily as we plough our way through these uncertain times of coming out of lock down. We sense that things are gradually getting better and yet we are still expected to be highly vigilant and careful. I hear from some of you that this is taking its toll, particularly as you try to reassure the children and keep them happy without so many of the supports that were part and parcel of their daily lives before.
THE OPENING OF CHURCHES:
Hopefully, we will be able to open St Mary’s for private prayer in due course. Meanwhile, I think what I said above is perfectly illustrated by the meticulous care we have to take when Bishop Eton church is open, albeit for just the three hours on Monday and Friday afternoons. I am indebted to those who have volunteered to ensure that everything runs smoothly and certainly our first experiences have been rewarding and welcomed by all who came. I just wonder whether this may offer families something different: just a short visit with the children, bringing all your worries and fears as well as your hopes and joys to the Lord. And, remember you can sit together as a family.
Note too the opening times of the other churches in our Pastoral Area. These can be found on our website or the Pastoral Area website at: www.pastol.co.uk
THE NOVENA IN HONOUR OF OUR LADY OF PERPETUAL SUCCOUR:
Remember that in response to the query about how we would celebrate this event, I have managed to arrange for the Novena I preached in Dublin two years ago to be made available. From now until the Feast next Saturday (27th) each day will be available on the website.
We have extricated the homily and the prayers from the recorded Masses. If you wish to follow the whole Mass, you should be able to find it on the website of the Redemptoristines in Dublin. (https://rednuns.com/)
NEXT SUNDAY IS THE SOLEMNITY OF SAINTS PETER AND PAUL
BROTHER ROYSTON C.Ss.R
Please remember in your prayers
Bro Royston Price CSsR,
who took his Final Vows as a Redemptorist on the Feast of the Sacred Heart. (Video below)
I and my family will be grateful for your prayers for the repose of the soul of Andrew, my nephew, whose funeral is this coming Wednesday (24th June). Please also pray for Anthony Rylands’s and his family. His funeral is the following day.
