FROM FR TIM:

CHRIST THE KING:

We rejoice in this great feast today and pray in a special way for all our young people and the future of the Church, which will be in their hands.

THE SYNOD AND OUR OPEN MEETING:

This Monday evening (26 November at 7pm), I ask you, if you can, to join us for our meeting. It will be an opportunity to review where we are as a parish and more importantly plan for the future, in particular with regard to our involvement in the Diocesan Synod.

SELECTING OUR PARISH SYNOD MEMBER:

Names need to be submitted to the Archdiocese by mid-December and therefore time is at a premium. I propose that we try to select our parish representative at our meeting on Monday.

At the back of the church this weekend, for those who are interested, there is a role description of what will be required of Synod members. If you are interested and would like to be considered, could you please let Ann O’Neill know by lunch-time this Monday and we will take stock on Monday evening.

Please remember that we also need to co-operate in finding 8 other members from the Pastoral Area and to ensure that everyone is represented these are to be selected from particular categories, including those involved in education, the caring professions and most notably the young. We will be looking for two people, aged between 15 and 25 years of age. Again, if would like to be considered, please inform Ann O’Neill during the coming week.

CHRISTMAS SPECIAL’ AFTERNOON TEA AND SINGALONG:

Our Christmas Special Afternoon tea and singalong will take place this Friday 30 November 2018 2:00pm-4:00pm in the parish hall. This event is open to all and especially, people living with dementia and their carers.

Sing a long Christmas Special

ADVENT RETREAT DAY:

On Saturday 1 December Fr Chris Thomas (General Secretary to the Bishop’s Conference) will lead an Advent retreat at Christ the King Church – Queens Drive (L15 6YQ).  The programme will start at 10:00am and finish at 4:00pm. Please bring a packed lunch. All welcome!

PARISH VOLUNTEERS PLEASE NOTE:

During a recent parish Health and Safety Audit, Kevin Harvey (Archdiocesan H&S Officer) flagged up an issue that has arisen in some parishes around the archdiocese. There have been instances of parishioners who have had traffic incidents travelling to and from church and their insurers have not settled the claim due to being unaware of the drivers’ voluntary duties. If you do any regular jobs at, or on behalf of the church (e.g. cleaning, counting money, Eucharistic Ministers visiting the sick and housebound etc.) and you use your car, please inform your motor insurers that you do voluntary work at church. There should be no increase in your premium, but it is still advisable to inform them. Thank you.

UCM:

Please note: there will be no meeting on Wednesday, 28 November due to Cenacle Retreat.
