ADOREMUS: It is now all stations go in preparation for the great event in Liverpool next weekend. We hope that all our delegates will have an inspiring time at the Congress and look forward to hearing from them. They will be commissioned at the 11:00 am Mass this weekend (Bishop Eton at 6:00 pm).

Adoremus Parallel Programme Liverpool 1

Please remember there are umpteen fringe events (please see the leaflets) including our own at Bishop Eton:

FRIDAY 7 SEPTEMBER: FAMILY HOLY HOUR AT 6:00PM.
It will be wonderful if we can have a tremendous turnout from both parishes. The format will be very simple and the children very much involved. Hopefully, if the weather permits, we will be able to include a Procession of the Blessed Sacrament around the grounds. There will be an opportunity to get-together in the hall afterwards.

SATURDAY 8 SEPTEMBER at NOON ‘The Eucharist and the Redemptorist Charism’:
Bishop Ralph Heskett, CSsR will lead the concelebrated Mass in the church and this will be followed by some refreshments and a talk by Fr Andrew Burns, CSsR in the Fisher-More Hall.

Exposition: In preparation for the Congress there will be Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament  at Bishop Eton:from 11.00am until the noon Mass each day during the coming week

There are a few ‘Adoremus’ books still available. They will make a wonderful souvenir of the event and are available at £4.75 at the back of the church.

EVENTS SUPPORTING ADOREMUS: There is a parallel programme of events supporting Adoremus from 7-9 September in various locations around the city. See the poster in the porch or pick up a leaflet. For more details click here

LIVING WELL WITH DEMENTIA - DEMENTIA AWARENESS SESSION: This Monday 3 September 2018 7:00pm-8:30pm we will be hosting a dementia awareness session in the parish hall. Our guest speaker will be Serena Jones who is a dementia specialist nurse and a parishioner here at St Mary’s. Serena will share her expertise with us and offer advice on how people can live well with dementia, together with advice and signposting tips for carers. The evening promises to be a very interesting and highly informative event. Everyone is welcome to attend and particularly those people living with dementia and their carers. We would also like to invite representation from our schools and neighbouring churches. Parish groups including Eucharistic ministers who provide home visits, Bereavement groups, SVP, UCM, and RYM are particularly encouraged to attend and of course,  all those people who signed up as Dementia Friends in July 2017.

We are currently in the process of writing the report and looking at how we can discern our priorities for the next three years; these will be presented to the Parish in due course.

One thing that has been obvious throughout the process is the importance of conversations and opportunities to gather socially and to get to know fellow parishioners better, hence strengthening community.  Please do take the opportunity to come to the Parish Hall for a cup of tea or coffee after the 11:00am Mass on Sunday to meet people and to continue to listen to each other.
