WEEKEND MASS - SUMMER TIMETABLE:  As in previous years, the 9:00 am and 11: 00 am Sunday Masses will be replaced with a 10:00 am Mass. The 5:30 pm Mass on Saturday evening remains unchanged.

PLEASE NOTE: There will be a Vigil Mass on Tuesday at 7:00 pm due to the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary being on Wednesday. This will replace the usual 12noon Mass on Tuesday.

ADOREMUS: The week the schools reassemble is the week leading up to the Eucharistic Congress and we have two special fringe events at Bishop Eton. A Holy Hour with children and families on Friday 7 September at 6 pm and a lunchtime event following the noon Mass on Saturday 8 September. There are leaflets with details of all the events across the city at the back of the church this weekend. Our Junior Justice and Peace Group are already gearing up for the family event. I am hoping that all our altar servers will take part and help with a procession through the grounds (weather permitting).

THE EUCHARISTIC CONGRESS: For anyone interested, it is now possible to book directly to be a delegate at the Eucharistic Congress. Tickets are still available to the Saturday Echo Arena event at £43.50.  Please go to the website:

EVENTS SUPPORTING ADORAMUS: There is a parallel programme of events supporting Adoremus from 7-9 September in various locations. See the poster in the porch or pick up a leaflet or visit the pages on the website, just click here

On Monday 3 September 2018 7:00pm-8: 30 pm we will be hosting a dementia awareness session in the parish hall. Our guest speaker will be Serena Jones who is a dementia specialist nurse. Serena will share her expertise with us and offer advice on how people can live well with dementia, together with advice and signposting tips for carers.
The evening promises to be a very interesting and highly informative event. Everyone is welcome to attend and particularly those people living with dementia and their carers. In brief, Dementia is caused by diseases of the brain which can affect memory, everyday tasks, communication and perception. It is not a result of the normal ageing process.
There are over 800,000 people living with dementia in the UK and this figure is set to rise. Churches and faith-based organisations have an important role to play in ensuring people living with dementia can continue to live their lives and be an active part of their communities for as long as possible.
Many of our parishioners will develop dementia or be caring for someone who does. By being more dementia friendly, we can help and support them to continue practicing their faith.
Please do come along on 3 September so that we can continue to raise our awareness and work together in becoming a Dementia Friendly Parish.
We would also like to invite representation from our schools and neighbouring churches. Parish groups including Eucharistic ministers who provide home visits, bereavement groups, SVP, UCM and RYM are particularly encouraged to attend and of course,  all those people who signed up as Dementia Friends at the July 2017 session.

GOSPEL CONCERT: Saturday 8 September in The Auditorium, Echo Arena at 8:00 pm called ‘Lost and Found’. Frank Cottrell-Boyce and the Soul Sanctuary Gospel Choir will perform the retelling of the Prodigal Son. Tickets are £10 or £5 if booked before the 15 August. To book please visit or call the Box office on 0344 8000 410 (Monday-Friday 9:00am-9:00pm & Sundays and Bank Holidays 10:00am-5:00pm)

EXPOSITION AND BENEDICTION: In August the Sunday Gospels are taken from St John and form a timely reminder that Christ is the living bread which nourishes us with his Word and Body.  It is a perfect time to prepare for the Eucharistic Congress (7-9 September). Each Friday Evening in July and August (6:30-7: 30 pm) we continue Eucharistic Adoration at St Mary’s. Do Join Us! N.B There is no Exposition here on Friday 7 September  (but there will be a special Adoration session for families that night at Bishop Eton as part of the Adoremus Fringe event)
