FROM FR TIM
FROM FR TIM:
WEEKEND MASS - SUMMER TIMETABLE: As in previous years, the 9:00 am and 11: 00 am Sunday Masses will be replaced with a 10:00 am Mass. The 5:30 pm Mass on Saturday evening remains unchanged.
THE FEAST OF OUR FOUNDER, ST ALPHONSUS: is this Wednesday (1 August): Fr Pat O’Brien has kindly offered to celebrate the noon Mass here at St Mary’s. Bishop Ralph will celebrate the Mass with the community at noon in Bishop Eton.
To learn more about St Alphonsus visit the Province Website where there is a section dedicated to him. Click here
FR BARRIE O’TOOLE: Last Tuesday I managed to visit Ripon and spend a couple of hours with Fr Barrie and his sister, Pat. He was having one of his good days and we enjoyed lunch in the garden and catching up on all the news. He sends his greetings to everyone, thanking you for all the prayers and good wishes.
SUMMERTIME: Please remember that for the next five weeks there will be no Mass at 7:00 am in Bishop Eton. Hopefully, this will provide a little more room for manoeuvre in our Redemptorist community and help us to recharge the batteries.
FUNERALS: Three of our faithful parishioners at St Mary’s have died in the past week. The funeral of Pauline Bennet will be on Monday at noon and the funeral of Peter Prenton will be on Friday at noon. Elsie McKenzie’s funeral is yet to be arranged. The noon Mass at Bishop Eton on Tuesday will be the funeral of Daniel Gee-Jamieson, who was so tragically killed earlier in the month.
COMINGS AND GOINGS: We trust that the Youth Gathering in Granada (Spain) is going well. Fr Charles returns this coming Wednesday.
You can follow what is happening in Granada by going to https://www.facebook.com/alltogethergranada/ (The page is public so you do not need a Facebook account to view it, however, you may be asked to login, just click on the not now button and you will be able to continue viewing the page.
ADOREMUS: The week the schools reassemble is the week leading up to the Eucharistic Congress and we have two special fringe events at Bishop Eton. A Holy Hour with children and families on Friday 7 September at 6 pm and a lunchtime event following the noon Mass on Saturday 8 September. There are leaflets with details of all the events across the city at the back of the church this weekend. Our Junior Justice and Peace Group are already gearing up for the family event. I am hoping that all our altar servers will take part and help with a procession through the grounds (weather permitting). Details on the fringe events and background information is also available on the website click here.
THE EUCHARISTIC CONGRESS: For anyone interested, it is now possible to book directly to be a delegate at the Eucharistic Congress. Tickets are still available until the end of July to the Saturday Echo Arena event at £43.50. Please go to the website: http://www.jumpdp.com/adoremus2018/
