Notre Dame Sisters:
It is with great sadness that we say ‘Goodbye’ to the community at 285, Woolton Road (opposite Bishop Eton). This has all happened rather suddenly in the wake of a fire safety inspection. On behalf of all of us, I wish to thank the sisters for all they have contributed to life of the parish. The community was formed in 1980 and has been in the present building since 1987. Sr Jo is moving down the road to 266; Kathleen and Ruth are going to Parbold; Phil, Marie Thérèse and Dorothy are going to Birkdale and Sr Charlie is staying in the university complex. We assure them of our prayers and good wishes for the future.

Comings and goings:
Fr Charles and I will be away with the Pastoral Area clergy for meetings on Tuesday and Wednesday. Fr Andrew is with Marriage Encounter this weekend. Fr Michael Henesy and Fr Kevin Callaghan are returning from time away with their families and Bro William has returned after over a week in Broadgreen Hospital and is making good progress.

The Open Letter: T
hank you for the considerable feedback already. One of the key questions being asked is how do we organise forums for the wider conversation. I am open to suggestions.

Parish Office:
Ann O’Neill is taking a three-week holiday. If you need a priest urgently, then please contact Bishop Eton (722 1108). Messages can be left on the answerphone at St Mary’s and you should get a response in due course, but you may also contact the Bishop Eton office directly.

Days of Recollection for those in Ministry:
Please remember to sign up in the sacristy for these days. We hope everyone who possibly can, will join Fr Charles for these days:

Sacristans: Saturday 21 October;
Eucharistic Ministers; Saturday 28 October.

New Eucharistic Ministers’ Training Day - Reminder:
The training day will take place next Saturday 21 October at the Irenaeus Project, 32 Great George’s Road, L22 1RD from 9:00am to 4:00pm. Lunch will be provided, but if you have any dietary requirements please contact Jenny on: 015- 949-1199.

All Saints Mass-Holy Day of Obligation:
Weds 1 Nov 7:00pm at Hope Chapel, Hope University.

In response to the Archbishop's request that there is greater collaboration between parishes, the priests of the Pastoral Area have been praying together on the first Wednesday of the month. It has been good to see a number of people from different churches join us in prayer. As the first Wed of November is All Saints day, there will be one evening Mass in the Pastoral Area concelebrated by the priests. Please come and celebrate Mass together so that we can encourage one another as disciples of the Lord.

Parish Luncheon:
We resume our monthly parish luncheon this Wednesday 18 October at 12:30pm. Please add your name the list in the porch if you would like to join us. All welcome!

The next meeting is in the parish hall this Friday 20 October from 6:00pm-8:00pm. We  are collecting items for Operation Christmas Child, toiletries, pencils, hats, small toys and other small items to make up boxes. Please put them in the box in the porch. Thank you!

From Fr Pat:
Just a note to thank Fr Tim and all the parishioners who made last Saturday evening such a special time for me. I am so grateful for all the greetings and good wishes I received- it makes the effort of reaching 80 all worthwhile! It was wonderful to see so many old friends, I enjoyed the celebrations in the parish hall, and I am grateful to all who prepared it .Many thanks to all who made it such a marvellous occasion for me.

Much Woolton Catholic Primary School Open Day:
This Thursday 19 October from 2.00pm-3.00pm and from 5.30pm-6.30pm.

The day is a chance to support missionaries and the Church in proclaiming the Gospel of peace to those who suffer around the world. By supporting Missio you will be sharing the peace and love of Christ with all people by helping everyone in need, regardless of background or belief.

SPUC Merseyside Sponsored Walk -7 October:
Richard Benson completed the walk on 7 October and will be collecting sponsor money after all weekend Masses 14/15 and 21/22 October.
