PARISH LETTER: For some months I have been hinting that I plan to offer you some food for thought in an ‘open letter’. Well it has come to fruition and is available to you this weekend. In the past couple of weeks, I launched it at my meetings with the parents of our First Communion children and I look forward to having a conversation with them about it in the coming weeks. Please do take the trouble to read it and talk about it. My sincere hope is that it will provide the springboard for new ideas and new initiatives in both our parishes.

Redemptorist Youth Ministry: I am happy to announce officially that from the beginning of this month, Natasha Pritchard and Anita Carson will take over the work, begun a few years ago by Paul Murphy. I hope their enthusiasm will inspire young people of all ages, not only in our parishes but also across the country, to deepen their faith and their commitment to the mission of the Lord.

RYM: Mass on Tuesday 10 October 7.30pm at Bishop Eton to celebrate new beginnings of the Redemptorist Youth Ministry. Please contact Natasha & Anita at  or  if you can help with reading or the music.

New Altar Servers: I have not forgotten you: I hope to begin the process by coming to the schools this week.

BE Alive and The Catholic Pictorial:  are available this weekend. Please read Fr Andrew’s article in BE Alive in conjunction with my letter!

Days of Recollection for those in Ministry: Please remember to sign up in the sacristy for these days. We hope everyone who possibly can, will join Fr Charles for these days:

Sacristans: Saturday 21 October;
Eucharistic Ministers; Saturday 28 October.

Novena in honour of St Therese of Lisieux: We have been trying during the past week to keep the memory of St Therese, the patron of our Pastoral Area (admittedly with mixed success). Today would have been her Feast Day, but we are planning to honour her memory on Wednesday at Evening Prayer in Hope University Chapel at 6:00pm.

New Eucharistic Ministers: We have organised a training day for those parishioners who have expressed an interest in becoming a Eucharistic minister. The training will take place on Saturday 21 October at the Irenaeus Project, 32 Great George’s Road, L22 1RD. If there are any other parishioners who would like to be considered for this ministry, please contact the Parish Office.

Fr Pat O’Brien: Next Saturday 7 October, Fr Pat will celebrate the 5:30pm Mass. Following Mass, there will be a cheese and wine evening in the parish hall to mark his 80th birthday. Fr Pat insists on NO PRESENTS! However, he would be delighted to see you all in the parish hall after Mass.

Knights of St Columba Annual Sponsored Walk for the Nugent Crisis Fund: It was completed last Sunday and the sponsorship envelopes will be collected at all the Masses this weekend. Thank you for your support of this project helping needy families, it is much appreciated.

St Julie’s Catholic High School Open Evening:  We are delighted to invite girls in Years 4, 5 and 6 and their parents to take a tour of our brand new state of the art facilities this Thursday 5 October from 3.30pm to 6.00pm. Come and find out what it means to be part of the Notre Dame community of schools.

Much Woolton Catholic Primary School Open Day: Thursday 19 October from 2.00pm-3.00pm and from 5.30pm-6.30pm.

Visit of the Fatima Statue and Relics:  Friday & Saturday 6 & 7 October. See poster in the porch. The statue will process from Seel Street convent at 1.00pm on Friday to the Cathedral.

J&PYG: Are collecting items for Operation Christmas Child, toiletries, pencils, hats, small toys and other small items to make up boxes. Please put them in the box in the porch. Thank you!

SVP Healing Mass: The next Mass and lunch will be on Saturday 14 October 2017 at 12noon. Personal invitations have been given to those on the visiting list. Transport will be provided if required and we would appreciate the assistance of volunteer drivers. See poster in church.

SVP: There will be a retiring collection after all the Masses this weekend. Gift Aid envelopes are available at the back of the church. Thank you for your continued support!

Next Week: Twenty-Seventh Sunday of Ordinary Time Year A.

CAFOD Harvest Fast Day: There will be a retiring collection after all the Masses next weekend. Gift Aid envelopes are available at the back of the church.
