FROM FR TIM:

LAETARE SUNDAY (Mothering Sunday): We are midway through Lent and the Church offers us a breather today. We wish all our mothers a very blessed day and hope you will be spoilt by your families.

ARCHBISHOP MALCOLM:  thoroughly enjoyed has visit to the parish last weekend. Thank you to all who helped to make it such a happy occasion, including those who served refreshments after each Mass and the servers who really impressed him.

FEASTS: Thursday is the Feast of St Clement Hofbauer, always regarded as the second founder of the Redemptorists because he took the Congregation out of Italy and into northern Europe, from where we spread throughout the world. Saturday is of course the Feast of St Patrick. The SVP have organised the Healing Mass at noon on Saturday, during which we will celebrate the Sacrament of the Sick.

FR CHARLES: will be away this weekend and for the coming week. He will re-join the community next weekend.

RECONCILIATION:

There will be plenty of opportunity to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation before the Easter Triduum, which begins on Maundy Thursday.

There will be a Pastoral Area Reconciliation Service on Wednesday 21 March at 6:30pm in Hope University Chapel.
We will also have Reconciliation Services as usual in our two parishes at the beginning of Holy Week: Monday 26 March at 7:30pm in St Mary’s and Tuesday 27 March at 7:30pm in Bishop Eton.
Priests will be available after all the weekday Masses during the last two weeks of Lent and of course you may always call at the monastery and ask for a priest at any reasonable time on any given day.

ALTAR SERVERS ROTAS: Please sign your name on the lists in the sacristy indicating which Holy Week and Easter Masses/Services you will be serving at. Rehearsal times are on the lists. Thank you!

CHRISM MASS: All servers are invited to serve at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King on Wednesday 28 March at 7:30pm. Please contact the parish office if you wish to reserve seats. Thank you!

PARISH LISTENERS: We could still do with some more people who would be willing to join the Parish Listening Process. The first training session for volunteer listeners will take place this Monday 12 March at 6:00pm-8:30pm and the second session will be on Wednesday 21 March 12:30pm-3:00pm. If you would like more information or be willing to join the team of listeners, please contact Ann O’Neill in the office.

DEMENTIA PRAYER WEEK – 12-19 MARCH 2018:  During this week, we remember especially the often forgotten pain of those suffering with dementia and those who care for them. To mark the tenth anniversary of Dementia  Prayer Week, this coming week, the church will remain open for an hour after each weekday Mass to provide a quiet time for prayer. Please see resource pack on the noticeboard in the church porch.

GIFT AID: We are approaching the end of the tax year and the new envelopes will be issued to members of the ‘Parish Gift Aid Scheme’ in time for the start of the new tax year on the 6 April. Parishioners who are not members who wish to join should enter their name and address on the lists provided at the back of church and a member of the Parish Finance Team will contact you to provide further details. Joining the Gift Aid scheme greatly enhances the value of your contribution to the parish collection without any cost to you, providing you are a tax payer. If you would prefer to pay by standing order, this can also be arranged. Please indicate accordingly on the list. If you are not a tax payer you can still contribute by standing order or you can have a supply of non-Gift Aid envelopes. Please just indicate on the list. You can of course simply put your offering in the collection bag. Whichever method you choose, your contribution and financial support of the parish is greatly appreciated.

UCM AND FRIENDS CENACLE RETREAT: Wednesday 14 March at 10:00am for tea/coffee then start at 10:30am.
