WELCOME TO ARCHBISHOP MALCOLM McMAHON  who is visiting our parish this weekend. He will celebrate our three Masses and be available to meet parishioners afterwards in the parish centre.

LENT: In spite of the freezing conditions, it has been very edifying to see how many of you still managed to attend even weekday Masses during the past week. Thank you for your good example. We are now well into Lent, so may I remind you that as always we will offer many opportunities for those of you who wish to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation before the Easter Triduum, which begins on Maundy Thursday.

There will be a Pastoral Area Reconciliation Service on Wednesday 21 March at 6:30pm in Hope University Chapel.
We will also have Reconciliation Services as usual in our two parishes at the beginning of Holy Week:
Monday 26 March at 7.30pm in St Mary’s.
Tuesday 27 March at 7.30pm in Bishop Eton.
Priests will be available after all the weekday Masses during the last two weeks of Lent and of course you may always call at the monastery and ask for a priest at any reasonable time on any given day.

LEARNING TO SIGN THE MASS: Some of our young people will be learning to sign parts of the Mass before the 5:30pm Mass at St Mary’s on Saturday 10 March. If you wish to take part please be at St Mary’s Parish hall by 4:00pm.

EVENING PRAYER: with the pastoral area clergy will take place in Hope University Chapel this Wednesday evening (7 March) at 6:00pm. Refreshments are offered in the chaplaincy afterwards.

PARISH LISTENERS: We could still do with some more people who would be willing to join the Parish Listening Process. The training for volunteer listeners will take place on Monday 12 March at 6:00pm-8:30pm and Wednesday 21 March 12:30pm-3:00pm. If you would like more information or be willing to join the team, please contact Ann O’Neill in the office.

GIFT AID: We are approaching the end of the tax year and the new envelopes will be issued to members of the ‘Parish Gift Aid Scheme’ in time for the start of the new tax year on the 6 April. Parishioners who are not members who wish to join should enter their name and address on the lists provided at the back of church and a member of the Parish Finance Team will contact you to provide further details. Joining the Gift Aid scheme greatly enhances the value of your contribution to the parish collection without any cost to you, providing you are a tax payer. If you would prefer to pay by standing order, this can also be arranged. Please indicate accordingly on the list. If you are not a tax payer you can still contribute by standing order or you can have a supply of non-Gift Aid envelopes. Please just indicate on the list. You can of course simply put your offering in the collection bag. Whichever method you choose, your contribution and financial support of the parish is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
