FROM FR TIM:THE EPIPHANY: Today we celebrate this wonderful Feast which speaks to us of how the child Jesus came to make God manifest to the whole world. The Wise Men represent all men and women of all time: a further reminder to us to be busy all the time as peacemakers and reconcilers, uniting a divided world.

A FURTHER HUGE ‘THANK YOU’ to you all for the messages of good will, the cards, gifts and your generous contributions to the community in the Christmas collection. I hope to have a definitive total for the latter next weekend. Please note in your diaries the Parish Social evening: Friday, 26 January: 7:00pm to 10:00pm.

THE CHRISTMAS SEASON ends with the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord this Monday (January 8). However, we will continue the continental custom of keeping the crib until the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord on 2 February. Hopefully that will help to brighten the dark days of January, whenever you visit the church!Ordinary Time in the liturgical cycle begins on Tuesday. Remember we are now using the readings of Year B on Sundays and Year 2 on weekdays.

POSSIBLE NEW WEEKDAY TIMETABLE: There has been some discussion over the past couple of weeks among those who are able to come to the weekday Masses as to whether 10:00am should be introduced as the permanent weekday time at St Mary’s. Inevitably there are pros and cons whatever we decide, but the weight of opinion seems to be moving in that direction. For this week, I am grateful to Fr Pat O’Brien for covering while most of the Redemptorists will be in Scotland at a Province Meeting. Please note the timetable above. We are keeping the 10:00am on Monday, Thursday and Saturday this week, but there are funerals on Tuesday and Friday and Fr Pat can only manage noon on Wednesday. Confessions will be heard after the 10:00am Mass on Saturday.

UCM Meeting: Wednesday 10 January at 12:30pm in the parish Hall. Looking forward to seeing  UCM members and any other ladies will be most welcome. Please bring your lunch.
