Bishop Eton Lady Chapel

This is crucial work that needs to take place so please bear with us and observe any restrictions put in place for everyone’s safety.

Unfortunately progress has been delayed because some unexpected snags have occurred and we are awaiting professional advice on how best to proceed. - 17.9.17

The Novena petition box has been moved to St Joseph’s altar as has the Remembrance book.

The contractors have managed to mount the shrine to Our Lady of Perpetual Succour over St Joseph’s altar while the renovation is taking place.

PLEASE DO NOT bring any candles from outside as these will be removed I t would be impossible, indeed dangerous, to have the votive candles during this time

RYM Dates for your diary

10th Oct - Mass and Social

A very special Mass - our first with our new group leaders. We'll meet at church at 7.30pm and pray together, and Mass will begin at 7:45 prompt.

We will then have refreshments - either in the hall, or we'll go out for a meal

28th Oct - Retreat Day at Pantasaph

18-40 year olds (or thereabouts!) are welcome to join us for a quiet retreat day in the beautiful north Welsh countryside, just one hour's drive from Bishop Eton. We will be able to pray together, spend time in silence, go to Mass, have lunch and get to know each other a bit more.

We will be attending the vigil Mass at 4pm. Confessions available at 11.30, and we'll have lunch in the cafe on site together around 12:30.

The theme of the retreat is surrender to God.

The day is free of charge - just bring money for lunch, petrol contributions and donation for the collection at Mass! However, we will need to know numbers as soon as possible, to ensure we've got enough car space for everyone, so if you're interested let us know. We'll be departing from Bishop Eton at 10am, and if you can offer space in your car, or will require a lift from someone else, please let us know.

Invitation to Prayer

The next Pastoral Area Invitation to Prayer will take place on Wednesday, 4 October between 6.00pm-7.00pm at Hope University Chapel when we will continue to pray for guidance and help regarding the future of the Church and our mission in the local area.

Marie Curie Helper Appeal

Marie Curie Helper volunteers are needed to provide support to terminally ill people and their families. Marie Curie are looking for adults who are interested in providing support to local people living with a terminal illness.

Can you spare up to three hours once a week to visit someone in their home to offer a listening ear, emotional support and practical information?

Such visits also give families a chance to take a short break from their caring role. No previous experience is needed; training and ongoing support provided and travel expenses paid.

If interested in this very rewarding role, please call 0800 304 7402 or email  Thank you.

The drama of the Mass

A new website www.thedramaofthemass.com has been created by the artistic creator of the 1967 opening celebrations of the Metropolitan Cathedral.
