RYM Upcoming meetings and events
Tues 9th Jan: RYM social
Come along to the first RYM of 2018 - we'll be going to the Elephant for their quiz night. It gets busy and they can only book tables for those getting there early to eat, so I say we arrive at 7pm, get some food and drinks, and keep our table for the quiz.
Apparently it's one of the best quizzes around so we're really looking forward to it. For our first event back, we'll just be focussing on the social, but don't worry - lots of spiritual stuff planned for 2018 too!
Please do let us know in advance if you're coming as we'll need to book a table. Thanks!
Tues 16th Jan: RYM and Hope homeless mission in town
After the huge success of our first homeless mission (26 attended, £300 worth of stuff given to over 40 homeless people!), we're doing another one, combining the joint efforts and enthusiasm of our two groups. We've got loads and loads of donations that we'll bring along - all you have to bring is your enthusiasm, something warm to wear, and maybe a friend!
We meet at the Cathedral at 19:30, say a prayer together, then go off in groups of 4-6 people giving out tonnes of useful items to the people we meet... then we'll meet up afterwards and go for a drink or two!Last time was SO REWARDING so we hope you'll come along :)
Tues 23rd Jan: RYM goes to Animate
We'll be going along to Life and Soul, an evening of prayer and praise before the Blessed Sacrament, hosted by the Archdiocesan youth team, Animate. It's 7-8pm, then we'll go for a drink somewhere local. If you need transport from Bishop Eton, please let us know, and arrive at 6:30pm! :)Find out more here...click here
Sat 3rd Feb: sign language session for age 9-16 (or thereabouts) - St Mary's church hall
Tues 6th Feb: RYM session - Fisher More Hall
Inspired by the Redemptorist motto "copiosa apud eum redemptio" (with Him there is plentiful redemption), we've decided to have a session on redemption and confession.
Young adults (18-40 or thereabouts!) are welcome to come to a lively and interesting talk and discussion on the subject. As Catholics, we know that Confessions (or reconciliation, penance, etc) is an important sacrament, but we've often got questions about it.
Why do we have to go to confession? What is so special about it? What even counts as a sin?! We'll have a special guest priest to answer all your questions, plus some discussion and helpful hints if it's been a while since your last confession!
Afterwards, of course, we'll have some social time. Pub... bowling... something else? We'll ask for your suggestions nearer the time!
