Thank you!!

Thank you for your support this year. I hope in these difficult times the resources shared below support you and the community in your preparations during the season of Advent.

We know that it has been a difficult time for our churches, and we are truly grateful that you did not forget our brothers and sisters across the world. During Harvest Fast Day you reached out and encouraged your parishioners to give and pray in different ways.

The need this year has been huge and challenging across the world. But thanks to you we have been able to continue our international work. Through CAFOD you have supported some of the poorest communities most impacted by the virus. You have reached people in more than 33 countries, with over six million people receiving health and prevention advice and more than half a million people receiving safe hygiene supplies and services to prevent and reduce infection. Many more poor and vulnerable families have been supported with food supplies when there was no way to earn a living in the face of lockdown.

Your care for others meant that we were able to continue support in countries like Yemen, Syria, Sudan, Democratic Republic of Congo, Brazil where communities were already facing the toughest of challenges before the arrival of the virus.

Please put you all your used postage stamps in an envelope marked STAMPS in the box at the exit door. The money raised is sent to the Missions. Thank you!

A Special Christmas Message from Mary Meals and a thankyou to all those who have contributed.

We would like to invite you to consider donating any unused electronic devices with the idea that these could be re-set to factory settings and gifted to those who could use them. As we know, now more than ever access to online resources has been so important –for home schooling, keeping in touch with friends and family, for Mass, listening to/ watching Fr Tim’s weekly message. etc.  Please e-mail the parish office if you are considering donating your old device. Thank you.

Still Striving to Become a Dementia Friendly Parish

Early in the Covid-19 lockdown around April this year, members of the Pastoral Team became acutely aware of the challenges being faced by all our vulnerable parishioners, not least those living with dementia and their carers.

Together with all the other bookings in the parish hall, our usual monthly Dementia Friendly Afternoon Tea and Singalong sessions had to be cancelled and we were all very sad that we would not be able to offer a warm welcome to our guests, as was usual on the last Friday of each month.

The Sisters have announced the permanent closure of their shop in Bold Street, and are now relocating to 84 Church Street (Ranelagh Street/Hanover Street end) in early November.
